distributed the special $1 Kids Day edition.
Burrrrrrrrrrr: Did
you see the “ice sculptures” resembling Carol
Besselievre, Berta Lindman, Pat Meadows, Patty Privett,
and Beverly Williams on
Kids Day at the La Sierra Guild sales location in Coarse Gold? 120 newspapers
were sold by
these members…plus lots and lots of extra money was generously
donated.

The La
Sierra Guild is credited with nearly one-half.
All Guilds
rules specifically ask editors not to print exact money raised by each
guild
for any fundraiser.
We appreciate the thought and care that
went into the refreshments
provided by Margaret Starr and Carol Besselievre for our March 10th
general meeting.
Membership Chairman, Jerrie West, reported
that we have 28 active
members and 26 associate members. We had
a great
turn-out for the general meeting with 19 members present.
Ready—Set—GO…it
is full-speed-ahead for one of our exclusive yearly fundraisers: La Sierra Guild’s Cinco de Mayo lunch
and
raffle. Yes, this event happens on May 5th—that’s
a Wednesday in 2010. We need raffle
items! This is the time to let your
creative juices soar—purchase a large, adorable basket, fill it with
goodies
you would love to have; themed baskets are a real winner and generate
lots of
raffle tickets. Is any one thinking
Chocolate? Consider downsizing that
awesome work of art or
some vintage collector’s piece that could bring money
for Children’s Hospital and donate it as a raffle item.
Offer to solicit
local merchants for
donations, but first coordinate your ventures with Cinco de Mayo
Chairman,
Carol Besselievre. Carol
reported that El Cid’s is on board for the food
again, but a decision on what we will be charged is pending. Lenora Deck
will donate shrink wrap and a
machine to
help with the
sealing of the raffle baskets.
Our second La Sierra Guild exclusive
yearly fundraiser, the Fall Raffle,
is being kicked-up-a-notch this year.
Chairman,
Judy Hanson, did something new to solicit donations in 2010. She sent out printed post cards to local
merchants who
in previous years have donated raffle items. Judy
gave them a “heads up” and invited them
to participate again this year.
Several
merchants have returned the cards with their agreement to donate raffle
items
again this year. Linda Mosley will
be in
contact with a possible donation for printing of our Fall Raffle
tickets and
will report back to us next meeting.
